Bitlink and partners used components from the Bitlink 2-wire bus system to create a very precise surveillance system for the blood bank at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. The temperature of 85 portable blood freezers are being monitored constantly by the Bitlink system.

A central computer receives data from each freezer. If the temperature of a freezer varies outside a set parameter, an alarm will sound, thus enabling the staff to intervene quickly without the loss of any blood.

Technical description of the installation

Each of the 85 freezers are equiped with a very precise standard PT100 temperature sensor and an equally sensitive Bitlink DPBIT34-A1 sensor-amplifier. A standard network cable is installed througout the building and can be accessed by 3-point DIN-sockets in appropriate locations.

Each sensor and amplifier has a unique digital address which means that any freezer can be moved and plugged into another socket without the central computer loosing track of it.

The central computer is a standard PC delivered by our partner. This PC is linked to the standard network via a Bitlink BIT2111 server. The software is Bitlink OPC-Server software.
